Ceramic Coating Spokane

If your vehicle looks scratched with lackluster paint, a Ceramic Coating Spokane could help restore its condition. It can also help reduce the need for aggressive cleaning, waxing, and other treatments that quickly wear off. If you’re new to the idea of ceramic coating, here’s what you need to know, including the pros and cons.

What Is a Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that creates a chemical bond with the paint when it's applied to a car, truck, airplane, or other type of vehicle. It ultimately adds an extra layer of protection over your paint or other areas like wheels and glass. Unlike sealants and waxes, ceramic coatings break down after a few months and don’t protect against much. Ceramic coatings are semi permanent and more durable, helping to repel contaminants and liquids.

Ceramic coatings use a combination of protective qualities, including silicon dioxide, to increase their protective elements. However, there's a wide range of ceramic coatings on the market, and they're not all the same or created equally. They're often not tough enough against dings and harsh elements. But no ceramic coating is a superhero product.

Can I Get a Ceramic Coating for Any Vehicle?

Yes! It's a misconception that ceramic coatings are designed with high-end exotic models like Lamborghinis in mind, but that's simply not true. We believe all vehicles matter and can help with ease of cleaning and preserve your car's aesthetic integrity. It could also help retain the value of your car if you want to trade it in or sell it. You can also want a ceramic coating because you enjoy a car that looks virtually flawless. Ceramic coatings can also be used for trucks, marine crafts, and motorcycles.

Pros and Cons of Investing in Ceramic Coating for Your Vehicle

If you’re tired of spending time and money on scrubbing and waxing your vehicle, ceramic coating can help. You end up with a vehicle that looks freshly detailed and is more resilient to scratches and dings.

There’s not really a downside to ceramic coating, but it also depends on your expectations. No product will free your vehicle of scratches or rock chips again. The benefits of ceramic coatings for scratch-resistance are often exaggerated, and hardness tests are often misleading. The aesthetic condition of your car will also depend on how you maintain it and whether or not you're going through brush car washes. These brushes can ruin any paint, no matter how recently you coated your car.

Another misconception about ceramic coating is that it prevents water spots. Your coating will prevent water spots by baking into your coating instead of your car. But technically, you still have a water spot, it's just not absorbed into your car. Wiping off water spots and trying to avoid sprinklers and contaminated water can all help.

How Many Coatings of Ceramic Will I Need?

One downside of ceramic coating is that, unlike temporary waxes, it requires more prep work. Your vehicle needs a full chemical decontamination with a thorough hand wash via a pressure washer and snow bath foam with iron oxide remover. All of those microscopic contaminants should be removed from your car before applying a ceramic coating or any semi-permanent coating.

Ceramic coating isn’t a set it and forget it strategy. The number of treatments you need will also depend on the condition of your car and how you care for it.

Cars with heavy swirling and scratches usually need a multi-stage correction. A single, simple polish won't address deeper scratches and damage. Minor swirls and scratches need a dual stage correction to remove imperfections. A brand new car or a vehicle with virtually no scratches and only light swirls usually only needs one polish or correction treatment.
