PPF Aftercare

Paint Protection Film (PPF) Aftercare Guide

Thank you for choosing Paint Protection Film for your vehicle! To ensure your PPF continues to protect and enhance your car’s appearance, here are some essential aftercare tips:

Curing Time

  • Wait Before Washing: Your PPF needs time to fully bond with the paint. Please wait at least 5 days before washing your vehicle after the installation. The film may appear slightly hazy during this time, some air bubbles, but this will clear up as it cures. Heat and sunlight will speed up the cure time. If anything persist after 1-2 weeks please give us a call and we will schedule you for a 2 week check up.

Washing Your Vehicle

  • Hand Wash Recommended: Use a gentle, pH-balanced car shampoo and a soft microfiber cloth or mitt to wash your car. Avoid using automatic car washes, as brushes could damage the film.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaning products, waxes, or polishers on the PPF. These can cause discoloration or damage to the film.
  • Drying: Dry your car using a clean microfiber towel or a soft, lint-free towel to prevent water spots. Always wipe away from edges of, not against the edges.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Minor Contaminants: Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleaner to remove any sap, bugs, or tar from the PPF.
  • Avoid Scratches: While the PPF provides a protective layer, it’s still important to avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the film.
  • Self-Healing: Many modern PPFs feature self-healing properties. Minor scratches will fade with exposure to heat (such as sunlight or warm water). However, deep scratches or gouges will not heal.

Protecting the Film

  • Avoid Waxing: PPF doesn’t need to be waxed. Wax can build up on the film’s surface and cause haziness. Simply maintain it by keeping it clean and protected from harsh environmental elements.
